What to Expect

Everything you’re wondering about, before you ask.

Booking a session shouldn’t feel like a gamble. Here’s exactly how it works, from your first message to the day your photos land in your inbox.

Before we meet

We start with a real conversation

Once you reach out, I’ll ask about your family, not just names and ages, but what your kids love, what overwhelms them, and whether there’s a time of day that’s better or worse. You’re not filling out a form into the void; I’m doing my homework so nobody’s walking up to a stranger with no plan. I also provide you with information about how the session will go and what to expect.

Planning it

We choose a place and time that fits you

Most sessions happen in your home, or somewhere your family already feels comfortable: a favorite park, a backyard, a familiar trail. Familiar places mean relaxed people. I have a mobile studio when needed.

The session

We go at your pace: all of it counts

There’s no shot list to power through and no countdown. If someone needs to move, take a snack break, or warm up slowly, that’s not lost time; it’s usually when the best photos come. We can try posed portraits, but I won’t force stiff poses or push past a hard moment, and an off day is never a wasted session.

Afterward

You get honest photos you’ll actually treasure

A few weeks later, you’ll receive a private online gallery of carefully edited images, the real expressions, and connection.

Come exactly as you are

The things other sessions treat as problems, I treat as normal.

You should never have to warn me, apologize, or manage your child down to fit a photographer’s expectations. Here’s what’s simply built in.

Stimming is welcome; it belongs in the photos.

Wheelchairs & mobility aids photographed with dignity.

AAC & nonverbal communication understood and respected.

Sensory breaks, no limit, bring whatever helps.

No forced eye contact or fake smiles from anyone.

Siblings & the whole family get to be themselves too.

Common questions

The things parents usually ask me

What if my child has a total meltdown?

Then we pause, and I follow your lead completely. A hard moment doesn’t ruin anything. Often, the calm right after is where the most tender photos happen.

What if we barely get any “good” shots?

My whole approach is designed so that doesn’t happen. I’m capturing the real moments the entire time, even the quiet or messy ones, not waiting for one posed smile. “Good” shots show relationships, tell a story, and capture a moment in time.

Do we have to come to a studio?

Sessions happen in your home or a place your family already loves, where your child feels safe. We can discuss the best location for you. If we want a studio look, I can set up a mobile studio.

Can I tell you exactly how to work with my kid?

Please do. You’re the expert on your child, and the more you share ahead of time, the better the day goes.

When you’re ready

Still have a question? Just ask.

Tell me about your family, photo needs, and anything you’re unsure about. I read and answer every message myself, and there’s never any pressure to book.
